Account Alerts help you to easily locate clients with negative balances in a format that is easy to navigate. In this tutorial we will talk about how to find and correct negative balances.
On the top navigation menu, click on the "Alerts" tab, and select the account you want to check from the drop down menu.
The "Alerts" page will display any errors found.
If a negative balance is displayed, click on the client's name to view the client's ledger.
By viewing the ledger, you can observe when the check was written that exceeded the amount remaining in the client's account. The Rules of Professional Conduct, in most states, mandate that negative balances be promptly reimbursed or a written explanation be included in the records for the trust account (e.g., for an accounting error).
